Isolation of shingle and salmonella
S-S-agar, refers to Shigella-Salmonella agar. The nutrient medium is a foreign analogue of Baktohar Ploskirev.
The difference lies in the stronger, sometimes complete, inhibition of the concomitant microflora. In addition, iodine is not used in SS agar. Selective agents at the same time advocate bile, diamond green, thiosulfate. The nutrient medium also allows the detection of lactose fermentation by redistribution of colonies and the production of hydrogen sulfide by blackening.
Principle of action: The nutrient medium of the environment provides the growth of microorganisms. Citrate of iron acts as an indicator of hydrogen sulfide precipitation. Neutral red can detect lactose-positive bacteria. Gram-positive microflora is inhibited by diamond green, bile, citrate and sodium thiosulfate, which are part of the medium.
