Serum Shigella, 2 ml, DENKA SEIKEN, Japan

Shigella is a fixed gram negative sticks belonging to the Enterobacteriaceae family. Microorganisms pass into the large intestine orally and affect epithelial cells, thus causing shigellosis with (mucous and bloody) diarrhea, fever and abdominal pain as the main complaints. Shigella is subdivided into the following 4 species by the serological features of the somatic antigen (O-antigen) and biochemical properties in accordance with the recommendations (1984) of the International Subcommittee on Enterobacteriaeae, based on the proposal of Ewing in 1949 - S. dysenteriae (subgroup A), S. flexneri (subgroup B), S. boydii (subgroup C) and S. sonnei (subgroup D). S. dysenteriae is divided into 12 serologic types by typical antigen, S. flexneri for 6 serotypes and 13 subtypes by typical and group antigen, S. boydii by 18 serotypes for typical antigen. In S. sonnei there is one serotype, which is divided into 2 antigens, phase I (smooth - type S), and phase II (roharovuvaty - type R) associated with the S-R mutation of the O-antigen.

These products are polyvalent and monovalent serum for Shigella serotyping by agglutination on the glass, each serum containing specific agglutinin. Each polyvalent serum is produced by hyperimmunization of healthy pigs with inactivated microorganisms, heating the resulting whey at 56 ° C. for 30 minutes, removing similar agglutinins by suction and aseptically filtering them. Regarding monovalent serum, healthy rats are hyperventilated to get whey.

This is a liquid product containing specific somatic antibodies (polyvalent serum: pork, monovalent serum: rabbit) to Shigella O-antigen and 0.08% sodium azide as preservative.
