Purpose: Differentiation of bacteria by the ability to ferment carbohydrates, urea and produce hydrogen sulfide.

Principle of action: The Olkennytsky environment is prepared in the form of sloped agar in test tubes. During fermentation of carbohydrates, the indicator in the environment changes the color. Depending on the part of the test tube in which the color of the medium occurred, it is possible to differentiate microorganisms. Raspberry coloration is formed when fermentation of urea. The bacteria that restore thiosulfate to sulfite acquire a black color. Agar discontinuities indicate bacterial release of gas.

Instructions for use:

1. Dissolve 60 g of medium when heated in 1 liter of purified water

2. Boil for 2-3 minutes until complete dissolution of the components, pour into test tubes.

3. Autoclaving for 15 min at 112 ° C.
